We're infatuated with food that can help make the world a better place: All of our products are grown with the intention of sustaining the earth's resources and the people who use them, like you and me. The next thing we should say about us is that we believe tasting and knowing about the sources for the foods we eat is critical to living a healthy, happy life. Sure, there is something very attractive about faith and winging it, but when it comes to something as noble as food, knowing who grows it, how it's grown and transformed, and tasting it first is not only enjoyable but an often overlooked necessity. It helps one make important decisions that effect the entire world's ecosystem (yes, that's how critical your food buying power is) plus weed out the delicious from the not-so-delicious giving a person the chance to discover what they don't like and what they do. From this belief came our motivation to create an information based, transparent website where you can get to know each of our producers and see how they do what they do. In this way, every purchase from our line becomes an educated, confident one. In addition, we are creating a unique line of "Tastes" coming in January/February 2008 so you can experience many of our products at a minimal cost to decide what you really like. Another thing about us is we'll show you through the web and our email newsletters how our foods can be combined with other sustainably-grown ingredients to create delicious and healthy meals and where to buy locally and on the net to engage in more sustainable eating and shopping practices. The last thing you really must know about us is our primary mission: To rediscover the kitchen as the center of the home. Today, too many people in the U.S. no longer prepare meals from their home on a daily basis. Many diagnose time spent in the kitchen as being stressful, intimidating, or just too time-consuming. We want to counter those beliefs by showing how, with the right ingredients and a well-stocked pantry, cooking in the kitchen can be pleasurable. It can become the central place to foster a healthy body, mind, and home. |

Of course the first thing we should say about ourselves is that we love food. Plain and simple. Catch one of us on any given day, at any given moment and we'll probably be thinking about food, talking about it, or about to do one or the other. But what's unique about our food-fever is that we consider food to be a conduit for change; a way to improve our health, environment, standard of living, and the future for generations to come.
